Descrito como "uma da vozes mais sofisticadas do reggae", Gregory Isaacs morreu nesta segunda-feira (25), em Londres, de acordo com a BBC. Diagnosticado com câncer de pulmão há um ano, o músico foi responsável pelo disco Night Nurse, o mais famoso de sua carreira, lançado em 1982.

De acordo com o site da BBC, um comunicado de seu empresário aponta que ele estava com sua família. O músico estava viajando pela Jamaica recentemente antes de retornar ao Reino Unido para ficar com sua mulher, Linda. Em nota, ela diz que "Gregory era muito amado por todos e trabalhou muito para que sua música levasse amor e alegria".
